Twelve people have been charged five years after Kim Kardashian was held in a £7.4million gunpoint jewellery heist.
During Paris Fashion Week in 2016, Kim was tied up at gunpoint and locked in her hotel bathroom as she pleaded: “Please, I have a family” to intruders.
The gang, who were alleged to have been disguised as police officers, have been branded the ‘grandpa gang’ for their elderly age.
Aomar Ait Khedache, known as ‘Old Omar’, is accused of being the ringleader.
Following a five year investigation, judges have ordered the case sent to trial, a French judicial official said on Friday.
The 12 suspects face a range of charges related to the theft with a trial date still pending.
Several suspects have been released from jail pending trial for health reasons, including 68-year-old Yunice Abbas.
Abbas is one of five men accused of carrying out the heist itself and published a book about it last year.
Alleged ringleader Khedache is said to have penned Kim Kardashian an apology from his prison cell, saying he regrets his actions.
Police have not recovered any of the items taken in the robbery.
Speaking about the incident in a past episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim said she feared “they’re going to shoot me in the back.”
“There’s no way out. It makes me so upset to think about it,” she told her sisters.
