Strictly Come Dancing contestant Katie McGlynn has quashed rumours head on saying her and pro dance partner Gorka Marquez ‘laugh all day’.
Katie was asked in an Instagram live filmed as she travelled in a dimly lit taxi, asking: “Are the rumours you 2 don’t actually like each other doing your head in?”
She replied: “It doesn’t do my head in at all. I just think it’s funny as anyone who knows us knows we get on. We’ve got the same sense of humour, we literally just laugh all day.”
Katie, 28, is best known for her character’s heartbreaking cancer storyline as Sinead Tinker, but since leaving the cobbles has gone on to appear in teen soap Hollyoaks.
She is juggling filming her character Becky’s scenes with the demanding schedule of Strictly’s regime but appears to be coping well as she added: “I’m pretty lucky because both shows are really considerate of one another.
“One day, I’ll be filming for over 12 hours, but I’ll train for Strictly after that. Or the other way around.”
Katie, who performed The Tango in week one of the BBC dance competition scoring 22 points, said she’s excited about not just the dancing but the costumes and creativity the show brings.
Speaking ahead of the show she said: “Although I do get to have so much fun as an actress, a lot of my roles have involved quite serious and challenging storylines, so I’m fully ready to let my hair down and do something different, even if it is completely outside of my comfort zone. “I can’t promise that I’ll be the best, but I’m going to give it 110 per cent on the dance floor! As long as I don’t fall over I’ll be happy.”
And for now at least, she’s managing to stay on her feet and continued the fast-paced Jive with 21 points.
But with some talented dancers in the competition she’s going to need to step it up for Week 3 to improve their place on the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard.
For movie week this Saturday the pair will take to the dance floor to perform an American Smooth to Cruella De Vil by Mel Leven (Dr John version) from Disney’s Cruella release.
