David Beckham has praised Noel Gallagher following the release of a new Oasis documentary, but the former footballer couldn’t help but get a sly dig in while doing so.

The former Manchester United player took to Instagram on Thursday to congratulate the singer on the doc called Oasis Knebworth 1996 after the band’s iconic concert.

The 46-year-old shared a snap of the pair having fun and posing arm in arm, but he soon took aim at the 54-year-old with a cheeky dig about their rival footy clubs.

David told his told his 68.6 million followers that he liked the film, and Manchester was a ‘great place to be’ in the ’90s.

And in a jibe at the Citizens fan, the former Red Devil star said the film “t ook me right back to the good old 90’s when United were winning everything”.

The guitarist recently put aside his long-running feud with brother and former bandmate Liam to work on the documentary film which showcases the group’s iconic show.

The movie had its world premiere in London last week and was well received.

It looks at a time before the internet and one which meant concert goers weren’t able to film the gigs on their smart phones.

The documentary features raw footage of their iconic performance at the stately home, of which Noel has recently admitted that he was too “f***ing arrogant” to enjoy.

Speaking to The Sun he said: “I was so f***ing arrogant at the time that it didn’t really register. Genuinely.

“It’s only since Supersonic (Oasis’s 2016 documentary) and this film that you try and put yourself back in there and you get goosebumps.”

The gigs saw brother Liam and Noel joined by fellow bandmates Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan and Tony McCarroll perform on stage in front of an adoring crowd.

Noel describes the concert as being at a time when the band was “at its best” and a time when they felt most connected to the fans.

He added: “I’m not sure there are any bands who had that lift-off like we did. We were still in the same circumstances as our audience, almost. It is a snapshot of a band, of its zenith. It is a great moment for the band.”

Noel said how there were 30 cameras which captured every moment of the show as the band originally planned to create a film shortly after.

However, he confessed that they forgot about the footage as they quickly returned back to the recording studio following a failed US tour after the concert.
