Happy 4th of July all!
That’s right, it’s the United States of America’s Independence Day is here and, naturally, that means that the rich and famous of Hollywood and beyond have taken to social media to share their celebrations.
Some posted memes, others inspirational photos, and some even donned special outfits for the big day in the American calendar.
Firstly, former Governor of California and Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger shared a photo of himself in a t-shirt emblazoned with a US flag and seated on a bike.
Arnie captioned the post: “Happy Fourth of July! I always say that I was born in Austria, made in America.
“This is the store in Graz where I found the magazine that became my blueprint for getting to America when I was just 15.”
He continued: “My dreams would have been impossible anywhere else, so today and every day, I’m grateful for the United States.
“And I will always fight for our country to be better every day, because being the greatest country in the world isn’t easy. We have to work our asses off to keep improving. That’s patriotism. #fourthofjuly ”.
Screen icon Michelle Pfeiffer shared a shot of a rising sun behind a coastal shot and a US flag.
She penned with the snap: “Liberty and justice for all. #Happy4th [US flag emoji]”.
Elsewhere, Mad Men actress January Jones shared a photo of herself at home posing in the tiniest of blue mini-skirts with blue underwear showing.
She paired her bottom half with a crop top striped with red and white, whilst also holding a mini US flag and wearing red-rimmed sunglasses.
The blonde beauty penned with the snaps: “I’ll be your calendar girl! [US flag emoji, fireworks emoji] Happy 4th!!”
Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey shared a video with the caption: “happy 245th birthday America…lets rock”.
Matthew acknowledged the difficulties of the past year while seated in front of a US flag.
He said that US nationals should remember “we are babies as a country” and acknowledged that the country has had “growing pains” but must keep “maturing” and “striving”.
Matthew called on viewers to “reflect” on the country’s origins and where it can go next.
Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon posted a meme rom her film Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde.
The scene sees Jennifer Coolidge’s character tell Reese’s character Elle, who is wearing a US flag neck scarf: “Oh my God! You look like the Fourth of July!”
Then added: “Make me want a hot dog real bad”.
Reese captioned the past: “Bringing back this classic… Happy 4th of July folks! Important question… hotdogs or hamburgers? [US flag emoji, hot dog emoji, hamburger emoji]”.
However, there were also some more thoughtful posts that tackled America’s history and inequalities.
Scandal star Kerry Washington shared an image of herself in a bathing suit on a red, white and blue float in a swimming pool in the sun.
In one shot she donned a t-shirt that read “I [heart] Critical Race Theory”.
Kerry also shared a note that defined Critical Race Theory as “Telling the complete history of who we are.
“The idea that racism is systemic in our nation’s institutions and they function to maintain the dominance of white people in society.”
The actress captioned the snaps: “Swipe for #FACTS [finger pointing right emoji] Happy 4th America, stay cool [prayer hands emoji]”.
Meanwhile, the Queen of Pop herself Madonna shared a video with the caption: “The 4th of July is a lie
Madonna shared a video tagging W. Kamau Bell and Yvan Iturriaga and the video discussed America’s current racial inequalities and the history of racism and oppression in the country.
