Piers Morgan refuses to hug friends and family despite easing lockdown rules

Piers Morgan has rejected the idea of hugging his friends and family despite the easing of lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a conference today where he said that people can finally hug their loved ones again from May 17.

It is the first time people can finally make proper contact since March 2020, where it was announced that everyone should stay two metres apart.

However, the former Good Morning Britain host hasn’t changed his mind about making contact with people, taking to Twitter to share his opinion.

Before the conference confirmed the news, he wrote: “Some personal news: My own hugging ban will continue indefinitely past May 17.”

With a third of adults having both vaccine doses, people will get to choose whether they want to socially distance themselves from family and close friends.

According to the Prime Minister, people will also be able to meet outdoors in groups of up to 30 people.

And exciting to many, people from different households or bubbles can meet indoors socially for the first time.

Piers’ tweet comes only a few days after he announced he was taking a break from Twitter due to the amount of ‘unhinged people’ that use the platform.

In his Twitter update from May 6, that Piers shared with his 7.9 million followers, the television presenter explained that he’d been focusing on the ‘real world’ in the last few weeks.

“When, as I’ve been doing these past few weeks, you spend a lot less time on Twitter, and a lot more time out & about in the real world, you realise just how many god-awful & unhinged people are on this platform,” he announced.

Piers added: “I intend to spend even less time in their putrid company.”

Some Twitter users agreed with Piers’ intention to step back, but the star has continued to post several times a day.
