“Killers Of The Flower Moon” Adds Jesse Plemons In A Leading Role

  • by

Only a few days ago, we detailed Lily Gladstone landing a big part in Martin Scorsese’s latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon. Today, an actor with a Scorsese connection has scored a leading role in the movie. Yes, Jesse Plemons, who had a supporting turn in The Irishman, is going to be the lead in this next flick. He’ll be opposite Gladstone, as well as Scorsese stalwarts Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. This film, unsurprisingly, is shaping up pretty impeccably, signaling a huge player for Apple when it finally hits screens, likely next year. I for one can’t wait, and I’m sure I’m far from the only one…

Here is some of the story from Deadline:

After playing an FBI agent in Judas and the Black Messiah, Jesse Plemons is looking to stay in the bureau. He is set to join Apple Studios’ Killers of the Flower Moon, which Martin Scorsese is directing with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro attached to star.

Based on David Grann’s bestseller and set in 1920s Oklahoma, Killers of the Flower Moon depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror. Plemons will play the lead FBI agent investigating the murders.

Lily Gladstone is also on board to play Mollie Burkhart, an Osage married to Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio), who is nephew of a powerful local rancher (De Niro).

Scorsese also will produce for Apple Studios and Imperative Entertainment from a screenplay by Eric Roth. Producing alongside Scorsese are Imperative’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas, and Appian Way Productions.

Besides his scene-stealing role in Judas and the Black Messiah, Plemons’ upcoming credits include Disney’s upcoming Jungle Cruise alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, Scott Cooper’s newest film Antlers opposite Keri Russell and produced by Guillermo Del Toro. He also recently appeared in Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

He also just finished working on the Jane Campion feature The Power of the Dog opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst.

Killers of the Flower Moon joins an expanding offering of anticipated Apple Originals that will be developed and produced by Apple Studios, including Lessons in Chemistry starring and executive produced by Brie Larson, and written and executive produced by Susannah Grant; Kitbag, the latest film from Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix; and Emancipation, from director Antoine Fuqua and starring and produced by Will Smith.

Stay tuned for more on Killers of the Flower Moon…
